Classic Spritz Cookies

Classic Spritz Cookies

This classic recipe spritz cookies is from the Kitchen Magpie. Use food coloring to make these fitting for every holiday. 

makes 72 cookies  |  difficulty level: easy


  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 2  1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Food coloring (I used this natural brand) and sprinkles for decorating
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F 
  2. Beat butter and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, egg, vanilla extract and food coloring if desired.
  4. If dough is too sticky to work with, refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour.
  5. Place dough in cookie press and form shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet and decorate as desired.
  6. Bake 8-10 minutes or until set but not brown.
  7. Immediately transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Notes:

For this batch, I half-dipped each cookie in melted chocolate and then topped with sprinkles.
